Whynter - Terrible Customer Service
Ordered 3-Whynter ARC-14S 14,000 BTU A/C units from a retailer since Whynter Company will not deal directly with the public. Units were delivered by UPS as shipped directly from Whynter in Brea, CA.
Units delivered were not the ARC-14S that I ordered. They shipped a model ARC-143MX stating these are a free upgrade! I called the company and they indicated they did not have any ARC-14S units and would not have any for several weeks, but the ARC-143MX was a better unit.
Three A/C boxes were left on my front porch. I found one cardboard box banded with 4-strap tapes, one with only 1-strap tape and one with no strap tapes to hold the box together - instead several pieces of cello packaging tape to try to hold the bottom of a 100 lb.
box together. I opened the damaged box and found most of the styrofoam packing broken in pieces and the A/C unit was marked and scratched up like a liquidation unit.
Called Whynter and was assured all boxes are shipped strapped - NOT as delivered! Took pictures of damaged box (attached). Doubt very much UPSA would cut 4-band straps!
Had to return this A/C unit to retailer with no help from Winter what-so-ever. VERY POOR customer service.
Hope the A/C units work better than the way they were delivered.

If purchased from a retailer, the retailer should be responsible for product and delivery, not the manufacturer. I'd say the retailer and delivery company are at fault here, not the manufacturer...
Thank you for your comment - The original items were shipped by UPS directly from the Whynter Company to me. The Whynter Company is located only about 80 miles from my delivery location.
I would find it hard to believe that many of the box strapping bands were removed (or fell off) from two of the units ordered and the interior foam packaging was broken-up by UPS in a delivery two days and 80 miles after the product was ordered. The retailer only acted as an intermediary for the purchase and was very responsive and re-ordered a new A/C unit for me at no charge from the Whynter Company to replace a damaged and marked up unit.
The replacement unit was again shipped directly from the Whynter Company (not the retailer) and this one was well banded with 4 band straps and this box was in perfect condition. The Whynter Company seemed to care less when I contacted them about the damaged packages.
